[Adventures of Superman: Annual #4 (1992)]
I…I’ve got nothing. I thought I’d seen everything this era had to throw at me but…Guy Gardner unzipping himself from a banana spaceship he made, has really opened my eyes.
“Aquaman! You saved the day!”
[Adventures of Superman Annual #4 (1992)]
Dick. How does your neck do that? Why is your mullety-head taking up a whole specially shaped panel? What is trying to keep a straight face? You just look so happy…why must you put us all through so much visually?
(And remember, no matter how big a fanboy/girl you are of the Justice League members, Dick will always be the biggest fanboy.)
Look at his squishy little face.
[Detective Comics 573]
Hee…squishy face! I like it. :)
“My Father—? But until now, you’ve always refused to discuss him—refused to even tell me who he was.”
“He was a man you must now study…and learn about. He was…Bruce Wayne.”
[Brotherhood of the Bat. TPB 1995]
One of the most early attempts at bringing back into at least “Elseworlds” mainstream, was the idea of a Son of the Bat, (as conceived by Bruce and Talia, as first seen in Son of the Demon,) reintroduced in this story. Son of the Demon had been regulated to an “Elseworld” idea and the Brotherhood of the Bat also falls under that umbrella.
Ra’s al Ghul attempts to re-envisage the idea of a Batman, by creating a team of “Bat-men” in the year 2053. His daughter, Talia, knows her father is behind the guerrilla type justice being wrought in Gotham and is ashamed that it is being done under the mantle of her “Beloved”.
She confronts her son, Tallant, and tells him that it is time that he takes upon himself his father’s legacy, and in doing so bring an end to Ra’s plans.
Another interesting point of note is that Tallant, unlike the baby we seen in Son of the Demon, has been raised by Talia. This is something that is again revisited in Kingdom Come with Ibn al Xu’ffasch; and now with Damian in the DCU/DCnU.
So amongst the other interesting “discoveries” in Brotherhood of the Bat, you can find the decision to have, in most universes, Ibn al Xu’ffasch raised by his mother instead of by foster parents.
More panels to come.
The poll has spoken and the very first HtG video blog will be:

The New Teen Titans: An Ass Saving Tale of Epic Hair Proportions.
(That’s right ladies and gents, everything from pixie-boots through to Disco-wing and Mullet-wing.)
Obviously this is going to be a big one…I mean, there’s over a decade to cover, so here’s the fine print:
Other than that, here’s how the video blog schedule should be for the next couple of months:
April-May: New Teen Titans
May-June: Batman V1 #300
June: Nightwing V1 #1
July: Superboy: The adventures of Superman when he was a boy./Flash: An Ode to Wally West.
August: Justice League International/Australian Comic Variants
It may be subject to change on demand/by request if you’re interested in seeing any of these video subjects, or something else entirely, earlier after NTT. Again, let me know.
So I’m excited, I hope you’re excited too. I now have to go rack my brain and comic collections to try to piece together the first NTT video, stay Silver Age cool guys.
“There is only one member of our group who could have turned traitor and become a murderer—YOU!!”
[Justice League of America V1 #172 (JLA/JSA crossover)]
Bruce displays his wonderful dramatic skills (no doubt taught by Alfred,) to accuse the potential murderer…but who could it be?
[It’s Spirit King…but Batman is supposedly accusing Superman…which he doesn’t actually do in the story despite the evidence…oh well.]
“Wait…wait…you mean I’m him? I’m The Batman? Cool.”
[Batman Adventures V1 #35]
An amnesic Bruce, (who has no memories beyond six-years-old,) discovers he’s Batman. And seems rather pleased about it.
